If I buy a 4TB SSD can I set it up to be used by Immich (docker) and have some software/process that backs it up to the array nightly?

Featured Replies

I'm guessing that Immich will run better/faster on an SSD than on the raid array. (It would also put less strain on the array for file access)  And I assume I can create a user share that only uses that new SSD and point Immich there.

But this would not give any redundancy because it would not be part of the array and thus protected by parity. So, is there some plugin or software I can use that would copy it to a backup folder I have on the array, "just in case" something were to happen?

Assuming you are running this as a docker container, then the Appdata Backup plugin should do what you want.

Yes, I will be running it as a docker container, but I am looking to back up more than just the appdata.  I want to back up the 1TB of home photos and videos that I have (which is what I want to put on the SSD separate from the appdata folder which is already on a 1tb SSD)
