April 21, 201214 yr I am new to unraid. I built my own unraid server, which saved me some money from buying an expensive synology 5 bay nas. However, I am unhappy because I am afraid of messing things up with my server because I am not too knowledgeable of the unraid / linux language. I was wondering if there is a website or a book that you guys can recommend to I can learn the meaning of the basic commands and how to use them. Thanks for any suggestions.
April 21, 201214 yr Linux for dummies, or unix for dummies is a good start. Otherwise, when I learnt I generally figured out basic commands by googling "unix terminal how to *copy files* *delete files* *etc*".
April 23, 201214 yr I second speeding_ant, I've googled for just about anything I need. Any book will help, there are many websites dedicated to linux tutorials, but I've found simply googling for my problem or need returns numerous answers, some will differ so I would suggest looking at more than one result if its something your unsure about, and the plus side is books generally are written once and printed for years, while linux is constantly evolving. The plus side to this method is you learn more, when looking for how to do something, you may find different ways to achieve your goal, one may be better suited but the other may come in handy in the future as well!
