Win11 Virtual Machine Platform / nested virtualization killing performance

Featured Replies

Whenever Virtual Machine platform gets enabled (i.e. WSL2 install or Docker Desktop) Windows VM performance will plummet due to excessive CPU usage, to the point where it is almost unusable (lagging mouse, taking 30s to open explorer).

Disabling Virtual Machine Platform will revert the behaviour.

Opening the windows task manager will briefly show "System Interrupts" as most cpu time demanding task (80+%) but disappear shortly after.

The Unraid dashboard shows fluctuating usage between 30 and 100% across all assigned cores even when idling (usually 1 to 6%)

This happens with multiple Win11 vms with and without gpu passthrough.

Ryzen 5600GT

Any insight would be appreciated as I seem to have no luck using unraid 😅
