March 12, 20251 yr Hi all, I have the above issue on all my Unraid shares. Whenever I copy a file from my Macbook to an Unraid share (SMB) the copied file turns grey in Finder. When I try to open it, it brings the error message above. This does not happen when I copy to a dropbox, a synology or a simple WIndows share. File permissions isn't the problem, as there is full access on both sides. Has anyone run into the same issue? MacOS is 15.3.1 and Unraid is 6.12.10 running on Linux Thanks
March 12, 20251 yr Author i need to add that this issue started after upgrading to MacOs 15.3.1. Didn't have this issue with previous versions of MacOs
March 12, 20251 yr Works for me no problems. I assume you have MacOS interoperability enabled in Settings, SMB Settings. Post your diagnostics
March 12, 20251 yr If @Squid suggestion does not fix things, start with this command command in a Unraid GUI Terminal: ls -al /mnt/user Now drill down to the directory with a file in it with the issue and get a screenshot of file permissions, owner and group and a second screenshot of the first two lines of the file listing for the directory that contains the file (../ and ./ lines). (The name of the file is not important at this point, so you don't have to include it in the screenshot.) Edited March 12, 20251 yr by Frank1940
March 12, 20251 yr One more thing. Tell us the name of the program that created the file. (There was an issue-- as I recall --with Windows LibreOffice files giving problems...)
March 12, 20251 yr Just to clarify also. By copy TO and unraid share, are you doing the copy on the Mac or on Unraid and using UD to mount a share on the Mac (then copying it on the server from the Mac to Unraid)
March 13, 20251 yr Author Thanks, @Squid and @Frank1940, Issue seems to be resolved. Yes, I had MacOS interoperability enabled and then did 3 things: 1. switched SMB Multichannel on 2. rebooted the server 2 times 3. created another UNRAID user under a different name Moved the files from my Macbook (most of them pdfs) to the Unraid share and - tata - files stopped turning grey and are fully accessible. Not sure what fixed it in the end, but I even think the latter one had an impact. Will re-engineer that. Many thanks for your quick help
