I thought I read that it is suggested to not use latches on SATA cables for the unraid builds?

I do, never really had a problem with them.

 

There are some motherboard that the latch can get in the way (like the X8SIL) but for them most part they work just fine.  Hell, on the cables I attach to the SATA cards I use a drop of super glue once the cable is in place so that it stays.  The glue is easy enough to break if need be but the little extra hold helps it stay in place.

Frankly, I'm not sure. I thought I had read it somewhere, but I'm happy to be wrong because I would prefer to use them.
