April 25, 201214 yr Hi, I'm in the process of creating my first unraid server. Have a HP N40L microserver with 4x2tb drives and 1xparity. I'm at the point where I'm creating shares. I have sabnzbd, sickbeard, and couchpotato running on the server as it is primarily a media streamer. I have 2 shares at the moment. One is Movies, and one is TV. I'm telling sickbeard to process tv shows to the tv share and couch to the movie share. When I explore my server I can see disk 1 - disk 4 folders, movie folder, tv folder, flash folder, and a printer folder. When I click on disk 1, I can see my tv and movie share folder. When I click on disks 2 - 4, I don't see them. Does that mean the movie and tv shares I have created will only use disk 1? Or does it mean that the share folder is placed on disk 1 because it's the first thing on the server and that's where it just happened to have been stored on the server? What I want is the TV and movie share to use all 4 HDD's. So basically I want the 2 shares to be able to have 8 TB's of storage, filling up either until there is no more room left. Have I done this correctly? If not how do i achieve this? cheers
April 25, 201214 yr Assuming you have your split levels set correctly and you have not excluded any disks, It should move on to the next disk when it reaches the mark set in your allocation method. You could manually create the root folder name on each disk if you wish to have windows report XXXgigs free of 8TB. Also, you might find your performance to be a little slow if your writing directly to your array with sab, sic. you might look at some of the mods where they shove a laptop drive into the microserver with the Esata port for a cache/app drive.
April 25, 201214 yr Author How do I know if my levels are split correctly? I've read the unofficialy manual but I don't understand it 100%
April 25, 201214 yr No-one can help until you post the full share settings and the directory structure for each share.
