March 20, 20251 yr So I've spent the last week or so off and on trying to figure out a fix for unRAID on this NAS. I'm still very new to all of this so i don't doubt i could be doing something wrong but heres what i have done to try and troubleshoot. 1. tried a SanDisk 32g ultra slim drive i bought from SanDisk store on amazon and it ended up not being GUID compatible with the unraid usb creator tool, so i ran a manual install and made sure EFI folder was labeled correctly, took the nas apart and installed in place of OEM usb drive. went into bios and disabled secure boot, boot from tos and VTd. The NAS kept rebooting and never actually booted into unraid, so i figured the usb was the issue. 2. Got the new usb it worked with the usb tool, went through the same process as before, and still have not been able to boot up unraid. Saw another forum post recommending to go in the syslinux.cfg file and change the default line to Unraid OS, so i did that after attempting to boot the first time. i got in touch with terramaster support and they gave me those instructions ( the BIOS adjustments ) and told me if that doesnt get it working to post on this forum. i already purchased a full license and would much prefer to use that over TOS 6, all help is appreciated.
March 24, 20251 yr Author it will show the terramaster logo and go black for a bit, then it just restarts and does the same thing.

So there are the two aspects, Firstly, setting the BIOS up.. look at the first post of the other thread: Check your BIOS, you definitely need to disabled the TOS Boot option.. Effectively You need to get to a point you can select the first boot device as your UEFI USB Stick, or your BIOS/USB Stick will never boot. Once at that stage, confirm its all working by hitting F12 at boot which brings up the manual boot selection screen, and selecting your UEFI USB Stick, it should boot.. The problem is at each reboot, the BIOS will hang (black screen or just stuck) when it tries to boot from the USB automatically.. So the final step and workaround for this is the modify the \syslinux\syslinux.cfg file on the USB stick just adding the line "default Unraid OS" as the first line, so syslinux.cfg should now start: default Unraid OS menu title Lime Technology, Inc. prompt 0 timeout 50 This worked for the rest of us with F4-424Max and F6-424 Max units.. So as i mentioned in the post i did see all of those troubleshooting ideas and tried them, but maybe i did something wrong so ill try and give it another shot soon
