April 25, 201214 yr That's a bad power supply due to the lack of a single 12V rail. You are powering 8 drives so it would be in your best interest to upgrade to a single 12V rail PSU.
April 26, 201214 yr Author i've seen this single vs multi rail thing many times. frankly, i'm a non-believer. it all goes back to a single transformer anyways so its still a "single" 12v source. is the wattage enough?

April 26, 201214 yr Author thanks, that did help! i ran the server last night through a parity check and it came back clean with no errors. 2 of the 20EARS are not in the array though, just mounted as sdg and sdh, though they were spinning the entire time. on another note, a good read here about multi vs single rail. http://www.overclock.net/t/761202/single-rail-vs-multi-rail-explained
