Hi all, my mover was getting stuck with a folder in /mnt/user/storage with Japanese characters. I didn't end up needing that folder, so I deleted its contents entirely using Midnight Commander in the terminal. That was less than a week ago.

 

At some point over the last few days, I've noticed I'm missing data in /mnt/user/shows. In fact, out of my small 90-ish show library, I only have 33 shows left, many with missing seasons.

 

When accessing the Shows share via SMB:

• For a show that's still there (a.k.a. still showing in Emby with at least 1 season) - opening its subfolder reveals all normal contents. Any missing seasons' folders are still there, just empty.
• For a show that's no longer in Emby - its subfolder is still there, just empty.

 

When accessing the Shows share via the Unraid UI however... all the data is still there, and I can even view images/etc via the Unraid UI. It's just Docker apps & SMB that can't find it. I've attached a screenshot explaining the situation (along with my diagnostics of course).

 

I'm running a parity check now (I made sure to un-check "Write corrections to parity" beforehand) and I guess I'm just at a loss for what the situation is exactly. How do I know if I'm missing data elsewhere? How could this have come up? Is it maybe some sort of XFS corruption? I know some about Unraid and have been using it for a few years now, but not enough to handle a situation like this, so any help would be hugely appreciated. Thanks a bunch in advance.

 

Edit to add: All my vital data is being backed up using the 3-2-1 method so I can restore it easily. But... (A) I don't know what needs to be restored, and (B) this doesn't seem like the solution would be to just restore the data. I suspect some sort of xfs repair probably needs to happen? And (C) I'd like to prevent this from happening again of course. Thanks again in advance!

Made clear that I can restore my data if needed but the issue seems to be regarding integrity

I went perusing my Emby logs and found this (Smiling Friends is also affected in the same way as Attack on Titan). Could this whole situation stem from a permissions issue? How would I check for that? Is it safe to run something like the Docker Safe Permissions Fix if there's a chance my data is corrupted?

The terminal shows everything's there, even the "! HEVC status.txt" file I made at some point. Though, good catch - the permissions on everything are set to "nobody".

 

I guess my questions are:

• Would this be a job for the Docker Safe New Perms tool?
• If so, do we know how this happened?
• What are the chances this is a sign of corrupted data?

The New permissions tool will fix it, has to how they ended up like that, most likely they were created/modified by a container

You may need to make some change to whatever created these or it will continue to happen.
