[SOLVED] Disk status errors on main page vs. smart tests and Mymain

Featured Replies

My parity drive consistently has shown errors under drive status on the Main page:

Model / Serial No. Temperature Size Free Reads Writes Errors

parity Hitachi_HDS5C302_ML4220F31B9ZZR 31°C 1,953,514,552 - 470,722 476,230 587

But this same drive passes the SMART tests and shows no errors in MyMain.  It frequently fixes errors when it does the parity check every month.  Last month there were 3 errors fixed.

Is this something to be alarmed about, could I have a bad drive here or am I misunderstanding something?  All the other drives have 0 errors unlike the parity drive.

Thanks

Those are read errors. Post the SMART report.

It frequently fixes errors when it does the parity check every month.  Last month there were 3 errors fixed.
Most people specify a non correcting check for the monthly run, then if it shows errors, find the problem and run a correcting check after the cause is known. Do you have a reason for running automatic correcting checks? The only automatic correcting check I can see a need for is the one built into the unraid logic after a dirty shutdown.

The automatic monthly parity check in unMenu does not correct. You need to take action when any errors present. Start a thread.

The parity disk is not doing well.

he disk should be replaced with a pre-cleared spare. Let the array rebuild. Then pre-clear the drive that you removed. Post a new SMART report.

You can try to rebuild parity on to the current drive and then post a new SMART report. Enter "initconfig" or click the "New Config" button in Version 5.

I replaced the parity disk with a pre-cleared spare and have RMA'd it since it completely sh*t the bed.

Thank you for your help.
