[SOLVED] Trying to add 3TB (new) Parity drive Need help

Featured Replies

Hi everyone!

UNRAID Version 4.7 - syslog attached.

Old parity drive is a 2TB WD Green - all is ok with parity drive and UNRAID server.

Wish to install 3TB WD Black (wd 30ezrx) as parity drive.

Followed instuctions here to replace parity drive: http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=UnRAID_Manual#Replace_a_single_disk_with_a_bigger_one

When you go to DEVICES - I can assign the drive to the parity shows this:

pci-000:01:00.0-scsi-1:0:0:0 host2 (sda) WDC_WD30EZRX-00MMMB0_WD-WCAWZ1282289

However when you go to Main it shows NOT INSTALLED.

Pressing start brings the array up with no protection.

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance.

syslog.txt

v. 4.7 does not support drives bigger than about 2.2 T. You need to resize the disk or move to v. 5.

What am I missing?

4.7 doesn't support 3TB drives...

Beta Support for 3T Drives in 5.0-beta8 or later.  ;)

Thanks folks. Appreciate the quick response. Shall wait for the release - I am a nervous Nelly.

I have been running beta14 since it has been released and its solid as a rock, had almost 98 days of uptime before i restarted.

It is tempting to up to v5.14 I got this 3TB when I did a warranty for a 2TB got lucky.

On the flip side with so much data now on the line (over 10TB) and not as much time to spare I am reluctant. Shall read up on v5.

Thanks again.
