Expired Trial - Unable to purchase key [SOLVED]

Hi

I built an UnRAID server for a friend in 2023... before the trial period finished he stopped using it because of life events. Anyway he asked me to reinstate it today, so I booted it up and sure enough the trial shows as expired in October 2023. It wouldnt let me extend, or licence the server without updating the O/S. So, I updated using the update O/S option from the dashboard - it went through the motions and where previously it showed v6.4.xx on the dashboard, the version has now disappeared... so I think it should have updated to the latest version. If I check for updates from dashboard it just takes me to a blank page.

If I try to purchase a key, it takes me to a web page saying;

Quote

Unraid OS Out of Date

Legacy versions of Unraid only support activation code redemptions for Basic, Plus, and Pro.

To redeem or purchase Starter, Unleashed or Lifetime licenses, please upgrade to at least Unraid 6.12.8 or later via Tools > Update OS in the Unraid webgui.

For more information see FAQ below.

It shows the GUID of the USB key, but there is no, obvious, option to purchase a key... can anyone help?

Thanks

I just rebooted the server (again) and at the login prompt on the server, it shows UnRAID version as 7.0.1 - so am not sure why its saying its too old to purchase a key?

If it's 7.0 you should be able to purchase, post a screenshot from Tools - Registration, you can obfuscate the GUID

Just to cover all bases, I have already tried to extend the trial in order to buy a licence and get this error;

You cannot extend the trial period anymore. This works only directly after the original trial period.

Either you buy a key now, or the stick is useless.

Thanks @MAM59

As I posted above, I am NOT trying to extend the licence... I am trying to buy a full licence but when I click the purchase a key link I get a page saying the O/S needs to be updated in order to buy a key - but I have already upgraded to v7.0.1 - so is anyone able to assist with this??

Thanks

Sorry, I meant a screenshot showing the full GUI page so that the release can also be seen.

Sorry, I am away from the machine at the moment as we have popped out. When I get back I will send... however where it dhows UnRaid on the top left of the screen there is no version number underneath, which there used to be. After I updated the O/S I'd doesn't show version on dashboard anymore, which is why I added a screenshot of servers console login.

I will send whole screen when back at machine.

thanks

Thanks... As I said above, I am trying to buy a licence, not extend it, but the system says unraid is out of date and needs to be upgraded in order to purchase a licence... but it is upgraded to v7 and I still am unable to buy a licence.

Can someone help resolve this?

Thanks

This is usually a browser problem, and it may be interfering with getting a license, try using a different one.

I have tried from a different browser (Android & Windows Edge) and still get the same error. Here is the full screenshot of the registration page, as requested...

If it's not the browser, could be a plugin or other config issue, try booting in safe mode, if the same, you can try redoing the flash drive, backup the current one first and then recreate it using the USB tool and just restore the bare minimum, like the key, super.dat and the pools folder for the assignments, also copy the docker user templates folder (\config\plugins\dockerMan\templates-user), if all works you can then reconfigure the server or try restoring a few config files at a time from the backup to see if you can find the culprit.

Thanks @JorgeB I have booted into safe mode with GUI and now am at the purchase key page... interesting as there are no plugins or VMs installed... but at least this seems to have worked. If I get any more problums I will update - thanks 🙂 Hopefully anyone else with this problem will find this solution and try it first.

@JorgeB

ok, sorry to unmark your solution - but this is still proving troublesome... I was trying to connect the connect server to UnRAID account for management and when I try to connect it I get this error;

image.png.f9a4552a7bb6118134139e871f9359a5.png

Also, when I try to Connect it to unraid.net using the server login;

image.png.4ed56147623c4633a1d5ff539c9101cc.png

I get this error;

image.thumb.png.9b5ee3d25bcb1ba51644a858ee4e7aee.png

So... it looks very unreliable as though the upgrade to v7.0.1 (as it shows at the server console) hasnt installed properly - also there is no version showing on the dashboard, so it looks like something has gone wrong.

At the moment this machine is only working as a file server, but I am trying to add a Wireguard Docker and it wont let me... so I think the upgrade has not completed properly even though there is now a Starter licence showing as installed.

So, what suggestions to fix this and get it running reliably as I am going home tomorrow and need to reliably get on this machine for remote support?

Should I note the disk assignments and do a fresh install on the USB key? If so is there an up to date tutorial showing how to reinstall and load the licence key when done?

Thanks

OK, whilst booting into safe mode allowed me to buy a key, there were other issues - so I installed a fresh trial version of UnRAID 7.0.1 on the USB key and applied the starter licence purchased and set the config up again - after this it is all working OK.

I would suggest recreating the flash drive
