Pre clear failing

Featured Replies

Hello, i bought brand new 20 TB Seagate Exos x20 from Scan.co.uk today to expand into my existing array.

I have added it into the server and started the process of pre clearing using the following settings: Enhanced 1.0.31, Clear disk with 1 cycle and not skipping anything else.

it appears to be stuck on the very first step of reading the disk and then eventually fails with the following message at the end of the log: "preclear_disk_WVT0TM3T_1641801: error encountered, exiting ..."

I have attached my server diags if it helps with any info or tips people can offer along with the logs for the failed pre clear.

im hoping this isnt DOA

Thanks

Disk is not even giving a valid SMART, try replacing the cables to rule that out, but looks like a bad disk.
