Upgraded MB and Processor from AMD to Intel. Network Issue

Featured Replies

I recently upgraded my MB and processor from AMD to Intel and can't seem to get my router to see the server. I'm having to enter GUI via a monitor hooked up to the server. I've tried a deleting the network config files and rebooting, but it still doesn't show up. Tried messing around with the eth0 but nothing seems to have worked so far. Kind of at a loss at the moment due to my inexperience.tower-diagnostics-20250409-1447.zip

Post diagnostics after that

ethtool says no link detected. Those earlier diagnostics didn't even have any ethtool output.

You could check cables, ports, etc.

You have this realtek, a sometimes problematic brand with linux

85:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8125 2.5GbE Controller [10ec:8125] (rev 0c)
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Device [1043:88e1]
	Kernel modules: r8169

There is a driver plugin for that in Apps, but would be difficult to install with no internet working.

Do you have another adapter you could try?

I checked cables and ports on my router which all seems to be working fine.

Unfortunately, I don't have a spare NIC lying around. If there's no way around it, I suppose I'll have to try to buy a spare one.

Apr 10 11:01:53 Tower kernel: r8169 0000:85:00.0: error -ENODEV: unknown chip XID 688, contact r8169 maintainers (see MAINTAINERS file)

There's no stock kernel driver for that NIC yet, it should work with the Realtek driver plugin, and you can boot the flash drive with an older PC to install it.

Was able to borrow a spare NIC from a friend and everything works now! Thanks all for helping!
