Kernel Panic - But Why?

Normal syslog starts over after every boot, if it keeps happening, enable the syslog server and post that after a crash.

@JorgeB I have it enabled, I thought the system would roll that up too.

Except it's not using the syslog server. The directory is empty.

That often means the syslog server setup was not complete!    Did you put your server’s address into the Remote Server field to get the server to log to itself?

@itimpi I have two unraid servers, what would be better, point it to itself or to the second system?

Up to you - most people probably point it to itself.

An alternative is to use the Mirror to flash option which will cause it be written to the logs folder on the flash drive.   Some people, though, prefer not to use that option in case it increases wear on the flash drive although I personally have not found this to be an issue.

@itimpiIt would be nice to be able to do a csv option for multiple log servers.

I guess it could be added as a feature request, but not sure that there is much of a Use Case for it.

@itimpi most enterprise system do it already. Unraid is kinda headed down a similar path, maybe focused more on SMB though. I personally would have found it useful when my server wouldn't boot last fall, as I could have pulled logs then.

I don't want to write to USB because I can't risk it dying right now. Money is super tight and I'm running on a 10+ year old license. I've heard that after so many replacements, limetech won't refresh the usb guid. Which is fine, they have bills and payroll to make, I get it.

Only automatic transfers by the user are limited, there's no limited for transfers made by support.

There are those with even older licences and all ‘legacy’ licences are lifetime licences valid for all Unraid releases.   Limetech allows 1 automated licence transfer per year which can be done online in minutes.  If for some reason you need one sooner then you have to contact support but they tend to respond reasonably promptly.
