Add support for SCSI Enclosure Services (SES)

Featured Replies

Hi. I'm writing to request the support of SCSI Enclosure Services.

SES provides a way for the OS to talk with Enclosures, which can be usually found on most standard/OEM disk backplane/cases.

This allows the OS, espically ZFS, to show which disk is "faulted" with specific LED on the backplane, allowing fast identify of faulty disk or invoke blink from OS.

As the UNRAID is an OS focused on Storage, this would be a nice feature to have. I have tested this feature with my own mainframe and ZFS by manually compile kernel module using ich777's docker and bring up zed. It sucessfully sync the disk led state with zfs state.

The feature would require the following kernel modules:

CONFIG_ENCLOSURE_SERVICES=m
CONFIG_SCSI_ENCLOSURE=m

Looking forward to any further reply on this request.

@ich777 As recommended.
