Heads up, this plugin version is not actively maintained. Folderview3 is where you will want to go for the latest requests https://forums.unraid.net/topic/197223-plugin-folderview3/

[Plugin] FolderView2

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Happy to see my name pop-up on the custom animated folder icons. I added quite a lot of them a few months back. Worth checking out:

Github Repo

I am not sure which version of FolderView I am using. I set up a long time ago and it has been humming along perfectly. Version is listed as 2025.02.26. I am not sure if this is FolderView or FolderView2. My big thing is that I have spent a lot of time tweaking the css file. I will paste screenshots and the .css code below. Feel free to use and edit (sorry, I cannot stand dark themes). The css file I have is located in:

\\TOWER\flash\config\plugins\folder.view\styles\hernando.docker.css

[img]img%5D

[img]img%5D

I dont recall how I specified to the plugin which css file to use. In my current plugin, I cant find where this is called out. If I do NOT have FolderView2, and I would like to upgrade to it, how do I make sure I get back my customizations?

If it comes down to it, I would NEVER upgrade to 7.2 if FolderViewX will not work with it. It is that important to me.

Thanks.

Thanks a lot for this. Using it for Folders icons from back then (some years) also I saw new ones it very cool additions.

Using black theme with @Mattaton CSS + some my changes/fixes for my need.

Unfortunately folderview2 is broken a little for today, you can see posts above.

So hopping/waiting @VladoPortos will have time to fix and release it :(

Just save/backup your Style folder or better flash backup. You can make also backup from folder view and then import (not sure if style folder saved here)

The styles folder is not exported when using the Export tool. You have to copy it over from the FV1 directory (back it up first to be safe) once you have FV2 installed. So, Export/Import the folder settings, but manually copy over the styles folder.

I just added a Flat-Orange icon collection in case it works better with the black theme. Check them out. Which collection do you use? The ones with the gradient background are a nightmare to code. I will not be updating these... I will work on a Grey Flat collection next. It is nice to refresh some of the old original animated icons.

@Masterwishx and @Mattaton thank you guys. So I simply keep the file name called: hernando.docker.css? I will NOT be upgrading to FolderView2 until all is resolved.

Digging the flat collections, bro. Very nice.

Waiting patiently for a blue flat collection. 😄

I appreciate your icons! I check back often to see what you’ve uploaded. They look fantastic against the dark theme! Thank you very much.

Has anyone upgrade to Unraid 7.2.0 beta3 and can see how folderview works with it? I’m torn between keeping FolderView and upgrading my Unraid.

current manually installed version is working for me on 7.2b3

nothing seems broken.

Legend, thank you!

Edit: just upgraded to 7.2.0 b3. Can’t see any major flaws, nothing that’s in addition to what’s present in 7.1.4

Not sure I follow, but there is a Blue Collection that is flat (meaning no gradient background)...

Thanks for Grey + dark Grey Flat collection, looks amazing...

What version? Check posts above...

I can see the issues you mentioned with the CPU and RAM, but mine do work fine when the folder is opened, they dont work for the total when a folder is minimised.

That's pretty minor.

There are minor rendering issues due to the responsive UI changes, but for the most part it renders properly on my screen, and mobile.

Yep not a big problem, but we like when all working fine hopefully:)

What version of Unraid and plugin you using?

Ah, my mistake then. I checked out the ones that had flat in the name and just assumed the blue wasn't flat. 😄

Thanks!

This is not easy to fix. I would have to start with the icon from scratch and free trial software I used to animate has expired. I think the flaws are so small, they should not be visible in FolderView.

Yeah... Originally I had an Orange and Grey collection that used a gradient background for the icons. To add new icons to those two collections will be a monumental task, basically having to recreate each icon one by one. Thus I created the new Flat Collections with a solid color background. I can, in Notepad++, simply bulk edit all the files at once changing from one color to another. For the most part its fairly straight forward, but the Dark Grey Collection is NOT great. For a good chunk of the collection, the colors need important modifications. This is quite a time consuming task, taking a good 5 to 10 minutes per icon x 150 +/- icons = a bazillion minutes. It is also my least favorite color scheme.

If you are using the unRAID dark theme, and either of the grey or orange collections, please paste a whole page screenshot (like my image a few posts back) to see if I can fine tune collections. I hate the idea of having to change my configuration just to test the designs. I may come up with other ideas too.

Do you mean dark theme with Grey or Dark Grey Flat collection?

Fixed also right side of clouds, please check pr on github. Boxy svg was very easy to fix for the end, even for me as have no svg experience :)

The Flat Dark Grey collection is not too good. A lot of work is needed to fix/improve the colors of the various features. Try using the Flat Grey... Curious to see how it looks.

The Grey Flat is not enough dark for me (Database Tools,Cloud Storage as examples):

Oops ,checked again and i see now , a lot of white color not so good with yellow and less details than Flat Grey , hope you can fix it :)

Fixing these is a monumental task. I have to manually edit the code in Notepad++, figuring out what calls for what, and then try and test and test variations. All for each icon.

If you have a list of which ones you prefer, I can focus on those. I dont know why, but I hate the dark theme. From your screenshot above, my eye doesn't know where to go to "organize" what I see. Try testing the Pale or Yellow theme. If possible, try to edit the css of the little unRAID orange down-arrow buttons to a more muted grey color. Right now those buttons are where your eyes go to. I would also play with changing some of the backgrounds to a dark grey to make it look more "organized".

I really have a problem obsessing over UI design. And it is not what I do for a living.

You can try https://boxy-svg.com/ as we talked before its was really easy to fix bugs in clouds images with this tool ...
