New disk in array shows with >50GB used after formatting

Featured Replies

Hello,

I added a new disk to my array and UNRAID did some initialization (due to parity) but then complained that it has to be formatted first. I did this and everything seems to be okay now except that already 55,8GB are already used with no data being present on the new 8TB disk (see screenshot).

Does anyone have an idea why this is the case?

That is the overhead of creating the empty file system structures ready to receive files.

@itimpi Thanks for your fast answer. Did not expect that much space being overhead but on the other hand it’s a big disk :D

Yep, it's normal with XFS, and the larger the disk, the more it will have.
