Cannot unmenu or Telnet [SOLVED]

Featured Replies

Greetings, all. I am a complete noob to unRAID. I spent a good while searching through the forum on my problem but I feel like I am learning a new language (read: I could be using the wrong search terms); so if this has been answered before I do apologize.

I cannot ping, unmenu, or telnet to unRAID. I can only access it by going to the physical machine and using they keyboard and monitor attached to it (I am assuming this is the "console").

I followed the configuration tutorial to the letter. My first problem I encountered was the DHCP not assigning the proper IP address. It assigned properly the first time but then stopped after a reboot. I found a post to change the network.cfg file to a specific IP address and that worked.

I copied all the data and properly shut it down through unmenu. I then unplugged the server, moved it to it's final resting place and added an additional hard drive to start the preclear for the parity drive. Powered it back up and now I cannot access it at all from unmenu or telnet. I tried pinging it, no response.

I am using 5.0beta14. Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

syslog-2012-04-29.txt

I only had a brief look at your syslog, but your network interface appears to be fine and online, using these details:

eth0 10.0.10.3 broadcast 10.0.10.255 netmask 255.255.255.0

First thing I'd do is set up a laptop with a static IP address in the same range, i.e. 10.0.10.4, with other details the same.  Plug it directly into the unRAID server and see if you can access it then (ping/web page etc).

Thank you for the help. That didn't work, though.

I ended up throwing a spare NIC in and re-did the router assignments, re-enabled DHCP and it is working now. After the week I have had with random hardware flukes, it's par for the course.

Thanks again!

Guess it was a dead NIC then :)
