April 21, 20251 yr Hello Unraid Community and Community Helpers, Firstly, thanks for reading this thread. I appreciate community support so much. I'm not sure what happened - at this time I am unable to reach two of my disks. Disk 2 shows Unmountable, wrong or no file system; and Disk 3 shows a red X and that it is emulated. I did receive some emails about parity checks that started and these were unscheduled, I didn't think much about it as my daily status update emails had all said Healthy/Pass. Until they didn't, I guess. I'm loath to make any changes to hardware or run fixes until I get some direction - for which I thank you in advance. unraid-diagnostics-20250421-1639.zip
April 22, 20251 yr Community Expert Connection problems with multiple disks, looks like those are all on the motherboard controller. Maybe power problem. How are these disks powered? Any splitters? Ideally no more than 4 disks per PSU cable. Can't make any progress on disk2 or disk3 until your hardware is working. Check all connections then post new diagnostics.
April 22, 20251 yr Author Thanks @trurl for your quick reply. I pulled both malfunctioning drives off the motherboard and put them on the RAID controller. Only four drives were on the former and now the current PSU cable. Booted and ran diagnostics again, please find them attached below. unraid-diagnostics-20250421-2047.zip
April 22, 20251 yr Author Thank you @JorgeB for the reply and for looking at the diagnostics. I put the array into maintenance mode and repaired the file system on Disk 2. The array is now started and Disk 2 is back in the array, which means my Docker containers are back up. There is about 7GB of files in lost+found on the drive, mostly Linux ISO files that I can download again. A few questions: What can I do with lost+found files? Should I move on to Disk 3 file system repair? Is it time to retire this group of three 4TB drives as they are failing? New diagnostics attached below. unraid-diagnostics-20250422-0859.zip

You can deice if they are worth keeping or not. 15 minutes ago, bargs said: Should I move on to Disk 3 file system repair? Disk 3 doesn't have a filesystem issue, the disk is disabled, SMART looks mostly OK, if you are happy with the emulated disk contents, you can rebuild on top, recommend replacing the cables first to rule that out if it happens again.
April 22, 20251 yr Author Thank you @JorgeB. The array is rebuilding on top of the old disk in maintenance mode. I will move all the remaining drives off the motherboard controller onto the RAID controller. How do I evaluate the SMART reports for the drives - what are the criteria by which I would decide to replace the drives?
April 23, 20251 yr Community Expert You can run an extended SMART test on them, if it fails, that disk should be replaced.
April 23, 20251 yr Author @JorgeB I will run the SMART test on the drives and take action as indicated. Thank you so much for all of your help - my UNRAID server is back up at 100% functionality thanks to your help. Beer money inbound!
