Unraid crashing when starting and using VM's

Featured Replies

Hi all, I recently upgraded some parts on my unraid server and upon turning it back on whenever I try and use VM's the entire unraid server will crash and reboot. sometimes the VM lasts for 10 minutes sometimes it last for 10 seconds. could I have some help with this please? I have attached a crash log as well as the diagnostic files as per someone else's request. I wasn't sure if they wanted me to re post everything so I've just decided to do that.

kind regards and thank you for your help

Server rebooting by itself is almost always a hardware issue, start by running memtest, also make sure this has been taken care of:

Hi, I did both of these things, had memtest running for 72 hours and no issue and also have changed both motherboard settings but I am still crashing, it's crashing even when idling now (the server runs a parity check on boot up)

memtest is only definitive if it finds errors, if you have multiple sticks try using the server with just one, if the same try with a different one, that will basically rule out bad RAM.

Hi, i tried unmounting the parity drive and that seems to have stopped the crashing, i havent run the server for an extensive period of time but so far its been the longest it's gone without crashing

Parity drives are not mounted - did you mean that you unassigned it?

Yeah I unassigned it. It crashed again and when I tried to reboot it it says the flash drive it was on has corrupted so I'm going to get a new flash drive for it to run off of and see what happens, I'm also going to try running with the old RAM again and see if the issues go away
