April 25, 20251 yr I was moving a ton of files last night between two shares with the mv command in terminal, inside /mnt/user/. While doing this, mover began running automatically. The chance of me having moved a file while mover was moving it, is very high. Is mover safe in regards to this? Running checksum checks on the data will time consuming.
April 26, 20251 yr Community Expert no they can conflict and copy and corrupt files if mover is also touch the sam files your mv command uses... do one or the other and control the folder mover data via the shares..
April 26, 20251 yr Author If any Limetech employees are watching, it should be possible to disable the mover on a schedule when it can corrupt stuff. Moving hundreds of gigabytes of files over SMB between shares seems unreasonable, and I don't think it's an advanced use case to move files with the CLI.
April 26, 20251 yr Community Expert This is based on your settings and schedules you set... primary share is where new files are created... secondary is where the files are removed from primary and sent to the sedcondary storage when mover scheduled is called and ran... you control and set that before you started your file copy... This is all based on how you handle your shares and when you tell mover to run: /Settings/Settings/Tools/Scheduler Review the docs: https://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/manual/shares/ https://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/manual/shares/user-shares/ https://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/manual/shares/disk-shares/ https://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/manual/shares/network-access/
