Installed Intel Pro 1000GT ..... issues

Just installed the Intel Pro 1000GT (PCI) to upgrade from my onboard nVidia 100mb. The problem is it seems to work fine for 15 seconds and then slow way down, then speed back up again. I never had this problem with the onboard nVidia.

 

In a separate issue, I use an external Seagate FreeAgent Pro (750gb) for parity using a cable going from an internal Sata connector to the eSATA connector on the FreeAgent Pro. It will work for several days and then show up with errors.

 

I have a Compaq  Presario SR1820NX I stripped down and converted to my unRaid server. I have 2 750gb SATA drives, 1 250gb IDE & 2 160gb IDE drives in additon to the external 750. The only card besides the motherboard is the Intel Pro.

 

Ideas?
