v6.9.2 - Removing unassigned SSD causes NVME pool device to become unmountable (SOLVED)

Featured Replies

I find myself in a very similar situation as the gentleman in this post: Unraid Support Post

I migrated my cache pool from a 240 GB SSD to a 1TB NVME and now have an unassigned 240 GB device that, when removed, renders the 1TB NVME unmountable with the following: "Cache pool BTRFS missing device(s)"

I didn't go quite as far as the guy in the previous post, so I'm looking for guidance on next steps before I dig the hole any deeper.

I'm wondering if I can just backup the cache pool files, delete the pool, recreate it, and restore the files?

The pool is still made of both devices, I assume you want to remove sdd?

Hello @JorgeB, that is correct. I would like to remove sdd.

With the array running type:

btrfs balance start -f -mconvert=dup /mnt/cache

then

btrfs dev del 1 /mnt/cache

Then post new diags.

@JorgeB, that looks to have worked. Waiting for your feedback:

When I attempted to upgrade UnRaid a year or so ago I ran into a similar issue with the cache drive being unrecognized and I had to roll back to v6.9.2. Could that have been the cause?

Looks good, you should now be able to disconnect the other device.
