May 2, 201214 yr I have 2 x AOC-SASLP-MV8 with 10 x 2TB drives which I've been running fine on UnRaid 4.7 other than having to downgrade from firmware .21 to .15 to get the system to boot. Now that I've upgraded to Unraid 5.0 rc1 I plan for all future HDDs to be 3TB or 4TB, however before I start purchasing them can someone confirm the following: Does the AOC-SASLP-MV8 with firmware .15 support 3TB/4TB drives or must I upgrade to firmware .21? If I have to upgrade to firmware .21 then that means replacing motherboard etc otherwise the system won't boot. thanks Alex
May 3, 201214 yr Author While no responses to my query. If anyone comes across this thread in the future note that Gigabyte has posted an updated BIOS (version F6f) for my motherboard that is smaller in size. I therefore have updated my motherboard to v F6f and also updated my AOC-SASLP-MV8s to .21 and my system now successfully boots (it failed to boot with the previous motherboard BIOS and .21 firmware). Hence I no longer need to use firmware .15 on my SASLPs with this motherboard. Alex
May 3, 201214 yr "Does the AOC-SASLP-MV8 with firmware .15 support 3TB/4TB drives or must I upgrade to firmware .21?" I have the same question, albeit with a different motherboard. I also would like to know if that AOC-SASLP-MV8 with the .15 firmware supports drives larger than 2 TB. Does anyone know the answer? Thanks.

Is your motherboard BIOS preventing the upgrade to .21 firmware? If not then it only takes 5-10 minutes to upgrade? Alex
May 4, 201214 yr I was asking it just as a general question, since you'd already asked it. I was just trying to get all my ducks in row, before making the jump from 4.7 to 5.x and before buying my next drive which I would prefer would be a 3 TB drive, in the next few months. From the somewhat "luddite" perspective of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" I would prefer not to upgrade the firmware on my two AOC-SASLP-MV8 boards at the same time that I'm upgrading my unRAID software. Not a big deal, but it would be nice to know if I could make the shift without upgrading the firmware. Hopefully somebody will answer definitively. Otherwise I'll just wait until it is on the critical path of an upgrade. Thanks.
May 4, 201214 yr I'm interested on this answer as well. I just got 2 of these sata cards, but I wonder if they will work with my current set up.
May 4, 201214 yr I can't answer your question directly about the older firmware but I know the SASLP will work with 3TB+ drives and the .21 firmware. Every one i have ever gotten has .21 on it and it is what we used when we tested a 4TB Hitachi on a SASLP at Greenleaf.
