Wifi local NAS only

Featured Replies

I know just the first word people will think I am losing my mind lol. Well a wire is impossible for this situation. Next part is even worst maybe. It works though. My question is would it work with Unraid or would it be even worth using Unraid (if it would even work) for this niche situation?

Ok details sorry. I am using a old laptop as a local NAS. Yes. It has 16 TB of total storage. You may think that is useless but it is not. Did not even need to get that much. Though good to have it and not need it then need it and not have it. Basically.

Main question is would Unraid let me create a local only Wifi network hotspot, I guess you could say, from my laptop still? Like I can with Windows 11 and the this program https://mypublicwifi.com/publicwifi/en/index.html

I am using example 5.

If Unraid can not do that then I guess it not necessary to even try. :(

Hope I am proven wrong though.

Yes I have a connected ethernet NAS that is connected and not just local at home as well. If you have questions sure go ahead if not that is fine too.

Unraid 7.1 can connect to WiFi access point, but it cannot be a WiFi access point.

Search Amazon for "GL.iNet travel router", you can probably setup a standalone WiFi network with one of those, although I've never tried it without an Internet connection
