May 12, 20251 yr Long story short I had a usb that borked, I transferred to a different usb and my server does not want to save when I change settings like SMB security settings or primary/cache settings. syslog-20250512.zip
May 12, 20251 yr Community Expert There was a user having a similar issue that fixed it by removing the following files from the flash drive config folder: "passwd", "secrets.tdb", "shadow", "smbpasswd", you can move them somewhere else instead of deleting them just in case, after that reboot the server and retest, also note that you will need to recreate the users if you have some, but you should only need to set the name and password, the permissions on the shares should be retained in the shares' config files.
May 12, 20251 yr Author I just had a chance to try this out, removed those files and booted but I am still getting the same issue where I hit save and it doesn't save settings. I attached the diags from after reboot in case they are different. diagnostics-20250512-2.zip
May 13, 20251 yr Community Expert No longer see the SMB errors, but there's this: May 12 16:24:42 MegaServer emhttpd: error: put_config_idx, 609: Not a directory (20): fopen: /boot/config/shares/MegaStore.cfg Post the output from: ls -l /boot/config/shares

May 13, 20251 yr Community Expert Solution There's a file called shares, so the folder /config/shares cannot be created, delete that file, then reapply the settings for all the shares, since there won't be a cfg file for any of them.
May 18, 20251 yr I'm having the same issue, but I do not have a file called shares in the /boot/config directory. When I try to save any settings in a share, I can click save, but they revert back.

When I try to save any settings in a share, I can click save, but they revert back. Then you are likely to have a different problem. I suggest you start a new thread and then attach your diagnostics to it so we can see something about your system.
