Unstability since upgrade to 7.1.2

Featured Replies

Since my upgrade to 7.1.2 I see various issues on my unraid :
ssh commands stop working : ps -ef / ifconfig / ... after a few hours of operations

unraid gui stops working, trying to restart it fails
smb speeds drop considerably, issues in stability of connection to remote smb mounts
issues restarting services

after a while reboot is the only option to fix it
it runs stable for a few hours... then it starts dying

I have the impression this happens when I run large file copies using mc to a remote smb share

The syslog in the diagnostics is the RAM version that starts afresh every time the system is booted.  If yuo have not already done so you should enable the syslog server (probably with the option to Mirror to Flash set) to get a syslog that survives a reboot so we can see what leads up to the problem.  The mirror to flash option is the easiest to set up (and if used the file is then automatically included in any diagnostics), but if you are worried about excessive wear on the flash drive you can put your server's address into the remote server field and log to a share instead.

Having said that I can see in the current diagnostics that the Plex Media server seems to have been killed due to excessive memory use.  Not sure why.  They seem to start with

There also seem to be a lot of errors of the form:

May 13 08:35:40 Jarvis smbd[2060958]: Ignoring unknown parameter "protocol_vers_map"
May 13 08:35:40 Jarvis smbd[2060958]: [2025/05/13 08:35:40.855528, 0] ../../lib/param/loadparm.c:749(lpcfg_map_parameter)

and I am not sure what they relate to.

Constant out of memory errors logged, try booting in safe mode.
