May 14, 20251 yr Dear fellow Unraiders, I am desperate. My Unraid has been crashing at irregular intervals for some time. The log does not (apparently) provide any useful information and the support team is also running out of ideas. The following problem: My Unraid array crashes from time to time. We are talking about anything from 5 hours to 3 days uptime. Memtest has been run and all SMART values are OK. The power supply is a 600W BeQuiet SystemPower 9, which (as far as I know) should be sufficient. Also installed is an ASUS TUF Gaming B550-Plus & an AMD Ryzen™ 7 5700X RAM is 4x 16GB DDR4 GPU is a NVIDIA ASUS GTX 1660 TI 8HDDs with different capacities for the data array, two WD RED 2TB 2,5" SSDs for VMs, Docker and as *arr intermediate storage As well as a 500GB M.2 SSD as transcoding cache for Tdarr The strange thing is that my external monitoring indicates that the Docker containers are no longer working when crashing, but the normal web interface is still accessible. This then also dies quite quickly, and you can only look at the main tab and nothing more, but that means that the tower has not switched off completely. (SSH is still accessible, but commands reboot & docker related dont work. top for example works fine) (I havent tested if the VM keeps running, if it crashes again i will try to remember to test) I just don't understand it. I once found an error in the log through ChatGPT that indicated a defective Docker VDisk, and I recreated it with a Guide from this Forum. Apart from that, I can't remember what I've done and I'm at my wit's end. Do any of you have any useful ideas? What I am currently doing: After consultation with the support & a few ideas from the WWW (see screenshots - these are the latest changes i did - the one with the many changes is done 5 minutes ago. So im not shure if its working with that) I am attaching the the LOG. The last crash was reported by the monitoring at 23:45. (+-2 min.) What I should also mention: Booting in safe mode without plugins but with Docker & VMs had also led to the crashes. Even deactivating my two most work-intensive dockers (Duplicacy & Tdarr) did not solve the problem. Unfortunately, I am relatively dependent on the system, which is why I have not yet operated it as a pure NAS without special features. The question here in the forum is parallel to my own ideas, ChatGPT's suggestions & contacting support. I am following all three paths at the same time. And now also the forum. But all 3 scrape together the most unlikely scenarios. So I was hoping that someone might have a simple idea, or alternatively I might spark the ambition of a more experienced Unraider. I myself come from an IT background, but have less to do with Linux & BIOS Configs etc. professionally. So please forgive my stupid questions and my desperation.... Before I forget: The current BIOS changes were the last effective ideas. If that doesn't work, the last thing the support team suggests is to run a parity check on the array twice during the same uptime (1st time to make sure the parity is working and the 2nd time to rule out RAM errors). syslog-previous (2) tower-diagnostics-20250515-0018.zip Edited May 14, 20251 yr by technikfrek Forgot GPU in Hardware
May 15, 20251 yr Community Expert If you havn't yet, see the part about voltage teak for Ryzen 5000 CPUs here: https://forums.unraid.net/topic/46802-faq-for-unraid-v6/page/2/#findComment-819173
May 15, 20251 yr Author Supplement: The array crashed this morning. So it was not the last BIOS settings. Interestingly, I noticed that the VM is still working and accessible. But network shares are not. Neither those on the data array, nor those on the SSD RAID 1. @JorgeB I've already disabled C-States to my Knowledge, i'll have a look into the Voltage tweak.
May 15, 20251 yr Author I have also forgotten my Sata PCIe Card (https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0BJV5DF68?ref=fed_asin_title&th=1) Besides that im not shure how to change the power on my CPU, could you elaborate? For testing purposes, i orderd a new PSU, and removed my Graphics card.
