May 18, 20251 yr Community Expert Disk just dropped offline, try replacing/swapping cables with another disk, it also looks like it failed to spin down once, which is weird.
May 18, 20251 yr Author I am using a qnap 473a which has a sata backplate and therefore no cables. This is the second time this has happened. Also when the hdd was spun up with nothing accessing it, it continously made access type noises. It has a healthly smart report.
May 18, 20251 yr Community Expert Swap slots with a different disk, if the problem follows the disk, that's likely the problem.
May 18, 20251 yr Author I would need to rebuild the hdd first as its been disabled and I cant risk another hdd failing but amazon has accepted a return on it and I bought another one.
