SMART errors during rebuild (Current Pending Sector/Offline Uncorrectable)

Featured Replies

I've just replaced 2 failing drives in my system with 2 new drives. I'm 18% into the rebuild and receive the attached errors on one of the new disks. I'm not quite sure what the best procedure would be. Let the rebuild complete and then RMA the drive? Cancel the rebuild now, shutdown and replace the drive?

Thanks,

Josh

It just hit 3, so it's getting progressively worse

ETA: Sorry, make that 4

ETA2: Jumped straight from 4 to 7

I went to sleep, still only on 7 errors on both 12 hours later. The parity check is now at 74%, is it worth finishing parity then following the normal procedure to replace the new faulty drive?

Thanks,

Josh

If it's a 74% might as well let it finish, at least the other rebuliding disk should be good, then replace that one.

Thanks - am I right in thinking that this shouldn't have affected any of my data? The array was in maintenance mode during the rebuild so nothing should've been read/written other than the parity

It was doing a rebuild so parity should not be affected (unless you were rebuilding a parity disk).   Only the disks being rebuilt should be affected.
