3TB Data Rebuild - 1 day 9 hours?

Featured Replies

I'm upgrading a 2TB drive to a 3TB drive. I changed the drives and started the rebuild, it's at 1% and still saying 1 day 9 hours. 25MB/s. I did a parity sync the day before this and I was getting 75MB/s, I assumed this would be slower because there's far more calculations. Is this a normal time for rebuilding 3TB?

I'm on Beta 12a, since the other betas don't work well for me. I have not tried the brand new RC2 yet, but RC1 did not work. All drives are Western Digital Greens. I precleared the new 3TB, and it never went slower than 95MB/s.

Thanks.

Seems a tad slow. I usually rebuild 3TB in less then half that time.

It might just be a false guesstimate because you are still at the start.

Remember, once you cross the 2TB line, it should get faster.

this can be affected by your hardware. if your drive is for example on a PCI sata card, that might add some time.

Strange. Well it just picked up, going 72MB/s now and estimated 11 hours. That's much better. Not sure why it was so slow for the first 1.5%.

Thanks.

Do you have cache_dirs installed? Did you start from power down? I get similar speed at first for a 2TB rebuild. I traced it to cache_dirs loading in the dirs the first time. Once loaded its almost 4X the speed. Oh yeah I also have a single core.
