what would be the least expensive list of  components recommended to built an unraid server ( 6 HDD to be stacked in ) that will be in the storage room. I am shelling whatever i can save on a nice HTPC.

Already have the case , hard drives and flash thumb.

My build (signature) was pretty cheap, around 110$ for MB/CPU/Ram.  For PSU a Corsair Builder 430W would be nice.

So far, I am about to buy these components ( sale ends tomorrow), hesitating on the power supply I have 3 choices, I know I got to get this one right!

I will buy the Antec one price is just 38.88$ and it is well ventilated certainly better than my very old case.

Hesitating about the cpu-mobo combination any newer components ( might move to another build down the road) not far from this price range (ASUS M5A78L-M LX Plus $56.98 SEMPRON 145 $40.99 )

I would avoid the Antec power supply.

 

It is a dual 12v rail. not ideal for a storage system.

Try to get a single rail PSU, I have a Corsair Builder 430W in another system and would use it for a 6 disk array.  Good luck!
