May 6, 201214 yr It was asked on [H}ard if the HP N40L will support more then the listed 8GB Max memory... I decided to give it a shot with some of the RAM I already had. Well. it look like it works with 16GiB. It posts 16 GB at boot up, Win2008r2SP1 is Reporting 16GB. The RAM I used is 2x Samsung 8GB ECC unbuffered DDR3 UDIMM 1333MHz (CL9). The ram was genuine Samsung re-branded as Super Talent. Not sure why you need that for unRAID.. but i thought to mention it since there is no HP Microserver thread here.
May 6, 201214 yr Nice! Thanks for the investigation. I just bought 8GB (2x4) for mine, but I don't think I'll ever need 16GB in it! Is the CPU really good enough for running ESXi for anything useful? If so, then I can see installing 16GB at some point.
