May 8, 201214 yr Now it looks like we have some choices. What is the latest consensus on brands? For the green drives both WD and Seagate are 1 year? Is Hitachi still 3 years? Looking through the reviews on Newegg it looks like Seagate is having a lot of DOAs which makes me concerned. I have 1 WD, 1 Seagate and 2 Hitachi, all 2TB, so far no failures, (knock on wood). flips
May 8, 201214 yr Author I've got 5 Seagates 5900 rpms green drive and 1 samsung green drive. I haven't had any issue yet...knock on wood 2!!! I don't need any drives because I've stopped ripping my collection. I am hoping that the prices will drop a little more in the next two months or so. I am thinking of getting a SSD 90GB as a cache drive. Newegg is supposed to have one on sale at about 10 AM PST. This drive has a 3 yrs limited warranty.
May 8, 201214 yr Samsung & Seagate green drives have 1 year warranty. WD green drives have 2 year warranty. Hitachi green drives have 3 year warranty (as far as I know).
