Custom qemu build: is it possible?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have GVT-D working in legacy mode on Windows 10 with i440fx machine type and the i915ovmf rom. (Intel UHD P630)

I’m now trying to get it to work also with a MacOS Sequoia VM. There I’m forced to use q35 machine type otherwise I struggle to boot, which means that I would have to use UPT mode instead of legacy mode.

A user in a discord channel of the i915ovmf rom has reported success with GVT-D and MacOS by patching the qemu source to remove the check of the device present at address 1f to allow legacy mode on q35.

I was wondering if this would be possible to achieve also in Unraid?

Searching the forum I found a post from @ich777 that mentioned a custom

Qemu build.

Thank you in advance.

I don’t know about patching qemu, but I’ve managed to run a Win10 VM with Q35 and standard unraid 7.1.2. I have a newer IGD version though, HD730. I also get the warning about the existing device at 1f in the logs BUT it still works.

I know this doesn’t help you, just adding a data point. I would also be very interested in getting MacOS running with IGD passthrough so will be watching this topic!
