Trying to help someone recover an array with Ver 4.7

Featured Replies

As the title states, I am trying to help someone out trying to recover an array with version 4.7.

If we try to telent (Yes, telnet), use the console, or the GUI the password is not correct. He believes there was no password set. If you recall 4.7 allowed to log in as root and have no password, you could just press ENTER. We can login into UNMENU, if any one remembers those days!

Is there a way to reset the password to obtain access? What do I need to edit in the USB drive? He would like to obtain access to some files ASAP and eventually upgrade hardware and ver 6 as money permits.

I'm not sure it applies to Unraid v4,7, but I would think that there is a good chance the procedure documented for Unraid v6 applies as documented here

He can also start with a new v7 installation and just reassign the devices.

That is too obvious 😊

Thanks for all the help. We found an old "netbook" with XP on it and checked the password manager. We did get in. He'll need to upgrade hardware to get to V6. Believe it or not, The USB drive and nine HDDs are 15+ years old! No parity errors, Smart reports look good and was last used in 2017. We passed this hurtle and next we'll look at slowly upgrading everything as he can afford it on a fixed income.
