Errors checking parity [solved]

Featured Replies

Hello,

I've experienced some error counts in a drive and I decided today to change a pair of sata cables (one of the drive giving errors and one from the other longer cable.

I've started a parity check and I'm reading some errors, could someone help me to know what the errors are and how to solve them?

Thanks

those are read errors on the parity disk.  Post a smart report on it please.

Joe L.

Media errors are not caused by SATA cables.  They are un-readable sectors on disks.  Your changing of cables probably had no effect.

Parity drive looks like a bad SATA or power cable. Disk1 looks like it's on it's way out.

They may both be dying though, Disk1 definitely is dying. Get you data off of it since you aren't sure what is causing those CRC errors on the parity disk.

  • Author

I will receive a new drive tomorrow and will start managing the RMA. :(

  • Author

New drive received, ecxchanged and raid reconstructed.

All working again, now without failures, waiting for a new enclosure to ventilate 4 of the disks.

I only noticed one freeze of the system after reconstruction and full parity check without corrections, no errors, then started copying some files from 1 drive to other (both of them in the unraid server but the copy managed from windows explorer so I supose the issue had something to do with the windows machine lan connection).

After restart 1 prity check write enabled and corrected 159 parity errors.

No more errors on the drives.

Thanks.
