May 10, 201214 yr Per my other thread, I had a bad Promise SATA card. The new card came and amazingly my server did boot back up! I thought I was home free but couldn't find it online on my network. So I hooked up an external monitor to it and it says no OS found press any key to reboot. I enter the BIOS menu (ASUS P5B-VM DO) and I all see is either A:\ or B:\. A is the floppy and B is the USB drive. It is on B but is not loading. Is there a menu within the Unraid OS flash drive that needs picked to boot from? Is it possible just by swapping out a SATA card now my OS won't boot. That is all that was done. There are 15 drives in my array, I replaced all cables to the 4 on the card to the exact same port they were removed from the bad card. This is super frustrating, any help appreciated.
May 10, 201214 yr Funnily enough I had a similar thing when I swapped out a failed disk a couple of nights ago. I'd plugged in an external USB cradle so I could do a preclear a few days earlier and this buggered my boot order up. I had to go back into the bios and set the USB boot device to FORCED FFD and then I was allowed to select it in the boot order section and all was good again. Might help
May 11, 201214 yr Author Thanks for your help, but this BIOS is so old there isn't even a boot order. Very strange indeed. Anyone with an original unraid care to comment on this? EDIT: I got into BIOS and it was already on Forced FFD.

May 11, 201214 yr Author Thanks, my BIOS states boot 1st: Floppy boot 2nd: None When I go in to select USB it isn't even an option, I have Floppy, Hard Drive (the first disk in my array), and CD-ROM. I assume this is what it said before since I have never changed it since I bought it from Tom 4 years ago.
May 11, 201214 yr Check the USB drive in another computer to make sure it is recognized. Check to see if another USB drive prepared with the trial version of unRaid is recognized as a boot device on your unRaid box. I suspect either a blown USB port or USB stick.
May 11, 201214 yr Author Fixed. In case anyone finds this thread and needs help, I followed this http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=2302.msg17664#msg17664 I updated the BIOS. It appears that after you monkey with something in the hard drives the USB gets removed and can't get added back. I upgraded the BIOS and bam, USB hard drive was a boot from option!
