All of those mentioned Docker/VM related shares have files on disk1. They are set to only store files on cache, but are not configured to be moved, so any files already on the array will not be moved.

Nothing can move open files, so you have to go to Settings and disable both Docker and VM Manager before you can work with these shares.

Set each of these to Primary:cache; Secondary:array; Mover Action:array->cache. Then run mover, wait for it to complete, and post new diagnostics.

Also, you have a large number (53) of .cfg files for shares that no longer exist. Probably you accidentally created a lot of shares by specifying a path at the top level of array disk or pool or /mnt/user. Any folder at the top level is automatically a user share.

You can clean up all these useless .cfg files by clicking the CLEAN UP button on the User Shares page.

May I ask you to support me once more? File Activity Plugin is not showing anything for these spin-ups, even when removing all exceptions. (btw. there seems a bug that it re-adds exceptions when removing all of them)

your log is spammed to hell, holy moly. But youre probably chasing for something that opens folders, for that you need to setup your own inotifywatch

I'll have to look at the exceptions bug, that should be an easy fix later on.

There are a lot of things that can cause the drive to spin up -- even something like listing directory contents (depending on what data is cached, how folders are split, etc.). The monitor ignores directory activity like that by default since it creates a lot of noise and won't keep the array from stopping, but I can look at making that configurable in an update. Trying to chase spinups to that degree is probably going to be more pain than it's worth, though.

The inotify I set up this afternoon indeed recognizes *many* directory listings on my disks. Not sure where they come from and I'll probably never find out. But I hope installing Dynamix Cache Directories Plugin will prevent those causing spin-ups.

Any chance of getting some buttons next to the date picker? Like:

Last 30 Minutes

Last 5 Minutes, etc?

It's kind of annoying to have to mess with the date picker every time i want to see what just woke a drive up. It seems like there's plenty of space for some buttons in that location.

I intend to keep this around. It's been substantially improved compared to the original version, and dlandon also applied restrictive licensing (so, if he were to remove them again, no one would be able to fork it like I did).

I don't understand why keep the same name and confuse people.

It is more complicated than that, and I don't intend to engage this any further than this comment.

There was no conflict at the time this plugin was added to CA... the original plugins had been removed by the author, leaving users without any option. I elected to restore the plugins (originally as-is, then adding improvements) so that users would continue having the plugins available despite the actions that were taken.

Renaming the plugin now is both complex, and will create confusion for users since it would require renaming the plugin and removing the original one from CA simultaneously (otherwise, it gets blacklisted), which then causes FCP to report the "pre-renamed" version (which everyone has installed) as unknown to CA and therefore potentially suspicious (until the users with it installed update, at which point they could pick up the "renamed" version.

Since I didn't create the conflict (there was no conflict when I started), I don't believe that's my problem to fix. If the staff want otherwise, they know how to get in touch with me, I chat with them all the time.

Hi, I've been using this wonderful plugin for a while. Sometimes my logs get flooded with repeated operations on the same file.
Would it be possible to add an option to collapse or merge them into a single line?

I have the same problem as the previous reply as well but I'm posting because of another topic:

I checked that inotify on linux is not suitable to also monitor which process made a change/opened a file, but would this be possible somehow?

I have some files which are randomly opened at random times, don't know why and can't hunt down the cause.

If it is literally impossible to hack around a solution, would you mind to add logging to the Open Files plugin? This may be resource hungry but for hunting down a process which from time to time spins up disks, for me, would worth it.

I noticed sometimes that the process "fileactiv" prevents unraid from unmounting a disk during array stop operations. I assume that process is for this plugin. After a minute or so I had to kill the process to unblock the operation. Is there some way to automatically stop the plugin so that it doesn't interfere?

This uses fileactivity-watcher (guessing might just be truncated on whatever you’re looking at?)

It shouldn’t interfere with the array stopping… I run it on my servers and have never seen that happen. I’d be curious to know what it’s stuck on if that’s happening (either via lsof or the open files plugin)

When installing this plugin and after reboot, this somehow causes the displayed processor speed to change on my particular setup. See my other post here about troubleshooting to narrow this down to the plugin.

Could the sort order and entries per page be saved so it's the same next visit?

Also, just a personal FR, add clear all data button in the listing. My use case is look (almost every day) and clear all data. Next time I look, I know all is fresh and new.

Now its there but "hidden" away in Settings. ;) Extra clicks. Thanks!
