June 17, 20251 yr Hi,Yes I know it's not ideal,But what you think about Mini PC with 2 NVME SSDs with RAID1?I know that the NVME isn't ideal for use instead of HDD, but I live in small place and really want small NAS.So I thought to use this until I move to bigger place and really build what I want.So any recommendation for Mini PC that can hold 2 NVME? or NVME and 2 HDD also great! but should be small. (Like Lenovo M920q)Regards.
June 17, 20251 yr be careful! Usually ONE of those two slots is limited to 1 lane only. This means, if you set up a mirror pool, speed will be limited to that slow slot. You may get only SATA speed anymore then.(some others are limited to "just for wifi" on the 2nd slot. take this warning seriously too)So, before you buy, read the specs CAREFULLY!

Create an RAIDZ Pool, add a share and you are done.My note was just a warning about giving away some benefits without need.

June 17, 20251 yr if you really just want the backup feature, I would also take a look at a rasperry PI with an external USB Disc (removable) attached.Just install SAMBA, create a share and let the clients write to the external thing.(I use some water-proof, password protected, crypted, drives by sandisk for instance. The data security is handled within the device already)

June 17, 20251 yr ok, but a NAS with only ~2Tb ? sounds.... hmmm (let me say it this way: "mine is 100Tb larger..." 😃)

June 18, 20251 yr Odroid H4 / H4+ / H4 Ultra with 2x2 Card and you can use 2x m.2 SSD (but you need to flash another BIOS for this card). Or if you want there is version for 4x m.2 card.
