Unraid booting straight into memtest86 instead of boot menu

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, i'm new to unraid, and i just installed unraid 7.13 onto a ugreen nasync DXP 4800 Plus.

I seem to always be booting straight into memtest86 without getting prompted the boot menu.

I've tried re-installing unraid again but it always boots into the memtest86, which i have to exit memtest86, followed by the boot menu to choose which unraid i would like to boot into.

I've also tried changing the syslinux's boot menu option in unraid to the Unraid OS Non-GUI, but no avail.

Not too sure what kind of diagnostic file i can provide, so do let me know, sorry, and thank you in advance.

Never heard of anything like this? Are you sure the memtest is not built into the BIOS?

  • Community Expert

Sounds like memtest is happening before Unraid flash boots.

Maybe your BIOS thinks you need to run memtest. Have you let it run to see if there are any memory problems?

@trurl Hmm i thought about that, but i can't seem to find anything that would lead to it running memtest, nor can i find anything about this bios having a built-in memtest as an option.

Also sorry if i'll be replying late, i tried to reply to @itimpi earlier, but it said i hit a daily message limit earlier.

have you tried booting another computer from that flash?

@trurl That's a good point actually, lemme give that a try.

@trurl tried it on my Asus Zephyrus G14 2024, it also immediately started memtest when it boots to the usb.

Gonna give trying to install on a different usb stick a try.

So i have some good news, the new flash drive works, for some reason no matter what, formatting etc my old flash drive it always boots into memtest, but the brand new flash drive has 0 issues and boots straight into unraid with the same backup.

So if anyone else comes across this (i saw someone on the unraid forum have the same issue but wasn't solved), the odd solution is to just use a different flash drive.

@trurl @itimpi Thank you both so much for your helps!~ 🥰 Cheers.
