June 19, 20251 yr Hello,I am fairly new to Unraid about 2 weeks. I have a NAS case that is just getting too hot and wanting to switch chassis. I have a SAS card and 8 drives. My question is if they get mixed up where they are plugged into the SAS will unraid understand? Same hardware everything moving over.
June 19, 20251 yr Community Expert Devices are tracked by the serial number, you can connect to a different port, or even a different controller, assuming no RAID controllers.

I thought that would be the case, but I was wanting to make sure before I destroy the entire work I put into this thing lol.
June 19, 20251 yr Community Expert Worst case is you screenshot your current drive configuration and make sure to assign the disks back to the same slots.
