June 19, 20251 yr I just booted up my Unraid server with 4-6 TB drives. However, it only shows 4 TB available on each drive. Not sure if it matters, but the drives were originally in a Synology NAS. However, I formatted them before putting them in the UnRaid server.
June 20, 20251 yr FYI, LSBLK is showing 4 partitions on each data disk, two smaller ones and then a 4tb and 2tb partition on those data disks. The parity disk has only a single 6tb partition which is correct, but the data disks partition tables were probably leftover from Synology.
June 20, 20251 yr Only method I know is to reformat all of the drives and start over. Maybe someone smarter than me has a less destructive way to do it?
June 20, 20251 yr Community Expert If the disks have existing partitions, Unraid 7.1.x will use the larger one for data, you could wipe the disks and start over, or rebuild them one by one at a time, during the rebuild, Unraid will wipe the partitions and create just one with the full disk size.https://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/manual/storage-management#rebuilding-a-drive-onto-itself
