June 20, 20251 yr Hey all,I am relatively new to Unraid and still learning the ropes. I have got a setup with a mix of media streaming, Docker containers, and occasional VM usage. I recently added a 1TB NVMe SSD and I am looking for advice on the best way to use it for caching.Should I use it as a cache drive for the array, or is it better suited as a dedicated pool for appdata, VMs, and Docker: ?? I have seen some folks run dual SSDs in RAID1.., but I am not sure if that’s overkill for my needs. Also, are there any specific tunings or mover settings I should be aware of to optimize performance while maintaining drive longevity: ??Any input from those with a similar setup would be super helpful. Thanks in advance !!Danielsalesforce training in bangalore

Having said that no reason a pool cannot support both at the same time if configured correctly.
June 20, 20251 yr Community Expert Best way to get started is with a mirrored (raid1) cache pool of SSDs (matching size of course) and then your Array of HDDs.Appdata, VMs, Docker should live on the cache pool for speed. Ensure to enable Exclusive Shares under settings > global share settings > exclusive shres: yes. Edited June 20, 20251 yr by MowMdown
