Nested Virtualization? (Proxmox on Unraid)

Featured Replies

Hi there,

i actual don't use Unraid, but i have in mind to switch my infrastructure from a Proxmox-Server and Synology-NAS to one Unraid-Server.

I tested Unraid 2 years ago and wasn't fine with the VM-possibilities (Backup of VMs for example), so i used a dedicated Proxmox-Server.

Some services needs to remain on a Proxmox-Host (pfSense and some other infrastructure-things).

With Unraid 7 - is it possible to run a Proxmox-Host nested, so i could run my Proxmox-VMs on top of Unraid?

I found many threads for the other direction (Unraid virtualized on Proxmox) and problems running Hyper-V virtualizied in a Unraid-VM; but nothing regarding Proxmox on Unraid.

Thanks in advance,

Bastian

Hello,

i installed Unraid on an old ThinkCentre and tried it out: I simply created a new VM (Debian) and installed Proxmox on it.

I was suprised, that i don't needed to change things - i could run VMs on the Proxmox-VM without any further configuration.
