Machine Check Events detected on your server [Unraid 7.1.2]

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to get some help diagnosing some instability I've been experiencing with my Unraid server. It's been having unclean shutdowns, and I've been noticing very high load averages and a number of strange errors in my logs.

I've pulled the logs, and the most concerning thing I've found is a new error from the "Fix Common Problems" plugin regarding Machine Check Events.

Primary Issue: Machine Check Errors (MCE)

My latest syslog shows this critical error:

Jul 14 04:40:44 mediaserver root: Fix Common Problems: Error: Machine Check Events detected on your server
Jul 14 04:40:44 mediaserver root: mcelog: ERROR: AMD Processor family 25: mcelog does not support this processor. Please use the edac_mce_amd module instead.
Jul 14 04:40:44 mediaserver root: CPU is unsupported

This seems to point to a potential hardware-level issue with the CPU, which is very concerning.

Other Symptoms I'm Experiencing:

  • High Load & Performance Issues: My load average is consistently high (e.g., 5.00, 2.64, 1.78). top shows that dockerd and shfs are the main culprits for high CPU usage.

  • GraphQL API / My Servers Errors: The graphql-api log is filled with errors about failing to load configs and being unable to connect to Docker and Libvirt.

  • Samba Errors: My logs show repeated Samba (smbd) errors related to parsing DFS paths.

  • Plugin and Docker Updates: I have several pending plugin and Docker updates that I have not yet applied while trying to diagnose these issues.

System Specifications:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16-Core Processor

  • Memory: 128GB RAM

  • Kernel: 6.12.24-Unraid

Given the MCE errors, I'm not sure where to begin troubleshooting. Could this be a sign of a failing CPU, a motherboard issue, or perhaps something related to BIOS settings?

I have all the diagnostic logs downloaded and have attached them. Any advice on what to check next would be incredibly helpful.

Thanks in advance for your support!
