Slow writes to both full flash ZFS array and to SSD Cache BTRFS

Featured Replies

I've been trying to get higher writes towards my SSD storage in Unraid.
I have 2 SSDSC2BB800G6N SSD's in a raid 0 array BTRFS. Reading speeds are fine at 277MB/s (near line speed at 2.5Gb/s). However, writing is slow in comparison at around 140MB/s.

I've checked the disks themselves and if I do a simple write test in unraid itself I get 760MB/s I rand this command:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/mnt/cache/testfile bs=1M count=500 oflag=direct

So this makes me assume something else is wrong.
It can't be the network since it is capable of higher speeds and it is not the disks since they are capable of way quicker writes.

I have tried writing to both a share with an without COW and I have enabled: strict sync = no in SMB settings.

Is there anything else I can check or try? Or should I give up and buy a nvme disk?

My unraid is running as a VM in Proxmox with a HBA passed through (LSI SAS2008)

I would try them separately in case one of the devices is not perrfoming as it should

Hey, I have been following threads similar to this because I have exactly the same problem and I can't find a solution.

Did you manage to find it in the meantime by any chance?
