Disk unmountable: wrong or no file system after removing 2 disks, rebooting and set new config array

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have an urgent problem with Unraid. I had four disks in an array:

Parity 1 - 6tb disk

data:

one 3TB,

2x 2Tb

I wanted to remove the two 2TB disks to install a new 6TB disk in their place, thus gaining 2TB of storage. I wanted to use the lesser storage drives in my pc.

I moved all the data from the 2TB disks to the 6TB disk and removed the two 2TB disks. Before removing them, everything was fine with this extra 6TB disk. But when I removed the two 2TB disks and turned the server back on and mounted the array, it reads and detects the 3TB disk with the new config without problems, but the 6TB disk says unmountable: unmountable: Wrong or no file system.

This means I can't access the data on the 6TB disk, which contains the majority of my data, as the disk appears to be corrupted or something similar. I've seen that the file system can be repaired without losing data. But I don't know how to proceed; I don't want to lose the data.

I've reconnected the two disks I removed, but they're all read and detected without issue, except for this 6tb one, which happens to have the most critical files for my work. Since I built a new array configuration, I don't have parity.

I really need those files back. I didn't reformatted the disk so I guess the data is still there.

I'm running xfs_repair over the 6tb disk. Right now the interface is loading, I guess it will take several hours to analyze the disk, if anything.

I need help guys. How can I repair the disk so I dont loose my data?

I ran diagnostics but the date of the logs don't reach yesterday, when it happened this. I share them in case it matters.

Post new diags after array start please.

Was this 6TB disk also in the array, or was it unassigned?

I do see that part of the controller is using IDE mode; typically with these boards it's ports 5 and 6. That is known to be a problem with these AMD chipsets; change that to AHCI/SATA and post new diags after array start.
