Recovering Unraid After USB Drive Failure

Featured Replies

My USB drive failed and so I needed to replace it. However, I did not have a very recent backup. I had one from a few months ago, just prior to upgrading to Unraid 7 from Unraid 6. Since that backup, I have not added or changed any hardware. I did starr using Tailscale in my dockers and on the server after I installed Unraid 7 though and maybe added a docker or two..

I created a new Unraid 7 USB drive, copied the entire config folder onto it from the previous Unraid 6 backup, and started the system. Everything seems to be running well. I did have to reinstall the Tailscale plugin, but that is all I have done.

My question is am I good? Are there additional things I need to do or check? Should I have done something different? I'm still learning and want to learn from this experience.

TIA

Well, I just found an issue. I tried to update a docker only to receive the message:

Configuration not found. Was this container created using this plugin?

So, something isn't right, although the dockers all seem to run OK.

The configuration details when you install a container are stored on the flash drive. It sounds as if you installed this container after the backup so there are no saved settings for it which is why you got the message. To fix it you would need to reinstall it using the previous settings if you can remember them.

So, it does appear that way. I just successfully updated a docker that was present before the update to Unraid 7. It looks like that just that one docker that was installed after the update has this issue. Thanks!
